Dehradun: In 3 districts of Uttarakhand, there is an alert of heavy rainfall at many places on Tuesday. The Ministry of Meteorology has issued instructions to take precautionary measures in the respective districts. Apart from this, there may be heavy rainfall in some places in other districts, according to the weather centre, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar and Chamoli may receive very heavy rainfall at many places. Heavy showers are expected to occur in most places. There is a possibility of heavy rainfall at some places in Rudraprayag, Tehri, Uttarkashi, Pauri, Almora, Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital. Weather Center Director Bikram Singh said that it is expected to rain in almost all the regions of the state. Rainfall will continue in most areas for the next 3 days.

Rishikesh-Gangotri Highway also closed: Rishikesh and Gangotri Highway near Nagani could not open even after 2 days. Due to the closure of the highway, there is a long line of heavy vehicles on both sides of the highway. Small vehicles were diverted to Chamba via Gaja, while dozens of trucks carrying goods from Rishikesh got stuck in a jam. The main pumping lines of Chamba and Ranichouri have also been damaged due to the debris. The administration has spoken of opening the highway by Tuesday.

The Rishikesh-Gangotri highway was closed at 11.30 am on Sunday due to debris and boulder from the hill near Nagani. Debris removal work has been continued since then, but due to the continuous arrival of the boulder, the work of removing debris has been interrupted. 20 contact motorways in Chamoli district are closed due to debris and landslides.
