Canva has seen remarkable growth in India over the past year, doubling its presence in this key market. Co-founder Cliff Obrecht shared that India's contribution has been essential in helping the company reach its impressive $2.5 billion annual revenue rate.

The platform has successfully engaged the Indian market by fostering active communities on Facebook, including more than 240,000 freelancers and 10,000 educators. While Canva reports 200 million monthly active users worldwide, it has not disclosed specific numbers for India. Obrecht emphasized that Canva is focused on localizing its product to reflect India’s cultural and linguistic diversity.

India ranks as Canva’s fifth-largest market, with around 139 million presentations created by Indian users in the past year. Tools like the photo background remover and Instagram templates are particularly popular. Though Canva does not currently have a physical office in India, its India-based remote team has nearly doubled in size over the last year.

In addition to competing with established design tools, Canva’s valuation has soared to around $32 billion, largely due to recent secondary share sales benefiting current investors. Canva’s India-specific strategy emphasizes localized features to support Indian creators and influencers. Over 120 Indian designers actively collaborate with Canva, producing unique templates and engaging the local audience.

Recently, Canva launched its 'Enterprise Subscription' for large organizations, enabling corporate-level adoption. This subscription model has driven a 300% increase in revenue. Canva now counts approximately 95% of Fortune 500 companies among its users and has established partnerships with well-known brands like Atlassian, HP, NYSE, and DHL Express.

Canva continues to enhance its platform through AI advancements. In August, it acquired Leonardo.ai and introduced Dream Lab, an AI-driven tool that transforms text prompts into visuals, ideal for creating storyboards and stock images that align with specific brand identities.
